I didn't set out to become a spiritual director or a theologian. I set out to be a doctor — to understand how light bends, how the eye receives it, how vision can be restored with the right tools and the right pair of hands.
But the longer I practiced, the more I noticed something: most of the people who sat across from

I didn't set out to become a spiritual director or a theologian. I set out to be a doctor — to understand how light bends, how the eye receives it, how vision can be restored with the right tools and the right pair of hands.
But the longer I practiced, the more I noticed something: most of the people who sat across from me in the exam chair weren't just struggling to see the letters on the wall. They were struggling to see themselves. Their lives. Their path forward. They needed more than a prescription.
So I kept learning. I went to seminary — not to become a pastor, but because the theological questions had always been alive in me and I needed to go deeper. I earned my Theology degree. I trained as a spiritual director. I became a teacher and returned to that same seminary as an adjunct professor, sitting now on the other side of the classroom.
I published my work. I pursued my own contemplative practice. I kept walking the path of awakening and realization that I believe we are all, in our own way, on.
I am not a guide who has arrived at the destination. I am a fellow traveler who has been walking long enough to know something about staying on the road when it gets hard to see.
